HSE Schools has opened two Family Resource Centers (FRC) – one at Riverside Intermediate and another at Sand Creek Intermediate schools.  Their purpose is to support families, caregivers and educators across the district by providing assistance in locating information and resources on a variety of issues that may adversely impact a student’s academic performance or social-emotional well-being.

While not intended to provide counseling or formal evaluation of a child, FRCs help locate additional ideas and evidence-based practices to address concerns. Information is available in a variety of formats (print, digital, web-based) and on a variety of topics.  The center at Sand Creek Intermediate will be open the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month from 5 – 7 p.m. with assistance from a school counselor and/or school psychologist.  In addition, these Tuesday Parent Nights will feature speakers on a variety of topics beginning at 5 p.m. and lasting 30-45 minutes.

Tues., April 8 – Anti-bullying, Jeff Foutty, Ed.S., HSE School Psychologist

Tues., April 22 – Social Media Safety, Fishers Police Dept.

Tues., May 13 – Helping Students Cope with Anxiety, Greg Eaken, Ph.D., HSE Behavior Specialist

The RSI center offers appointments during school hours from 7:35 a.m. – 3 p.m.  Call for an appointment at 317-594-4320 and ask for a school counselor.

Other topics include medical concerns, medications, health issues and community resources.
