On Friday, April 11 the Boone County Habitat for Humanity inaugural Women Build begins. The first of 20 teams, all consisting of 15 women each, arrives at 8 a.m. to begin the construction of Phyllis McKinney’s new home that she’ll share with her great granddaughter, Bailey.

For the past several months the building teams have been raising money to fund this entire build, participated in construction classes offered by Lowe’s Home Improvement at Anson, and rallied friends to participate. Now the actual building begins!

Beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 12 at Lowe’s Home Improvement in Anson team members, along with their friends, daughters, aunts, nieces and more will work to build the walls for the house. The walls will then be transported to the build site in Lebanon and raised.

Other important dates for the Boone County Habitat for Humanity Women’s Build are:

·         Home site for Landscape Day- May 17 10:00 am

·         House dedication- Late May/Early June
