Did you know that Indy Eleven player number 12 is Zionsville’s own A.J. Corrado? A midfielder for Indiana’s first professional soccer team, Corrado was raised in Zionsville and attended Indiana University in Bloomington.

The latest former Indiana University Hoosier to officially sign with Indy Eleven on April 8. Corrado proved his worth with Indy Eleven during a condensed trial with the squad. After a standout senior season in Bloomington this last fall, Corrado was selected 47th overall in the 2014 MLS Super Draft by the San Jose Earthquakes.

During his senior season for the Hoosiers, Corrado led Indiana to the 2013 Big Ten Men’s Soccer Tournament title and a NCAA tournament berth.  While at IU, Corrado appeared in 68 matches, making 50 starts.  He attended Southern Methodist University his freshman year and played in 18 games for a Mustangs team that reached the Elite Eight in the 2010 NCAA Tournament.

Corrado is well-known in soccer circles around country thanks to his impressive youth career. In his senior season at Zionsville Community High School, Corrado was named the 2010 Indiana Gatorade High School Player of the Year and led the Eagles to a state championship.  He also was a member of the Carmel United Developmental Academy team that won back-to-back national championships in 2008 and 2009.  More recently he featured with the Columbus Crew Juniors who won the 2011 USL Super-20 championship.

“With A.J Corrado being another IU product, we obviously got to see a lot of him over the last year and know full well the potential he possesses. Despite joining our camp later in the preseason A.J. was able to fit right into the group. He’s a versatile player that can benefit the squad out wide either in defense or the midfield,” said Indy Eleven Coach Juergen Sommer.
