Election update: Voting slow at Carmel precincts

0

Staff report

As expected in a year with no presidential  candidate on the ballot, voting was slow during primary voting May 6.

One precinct in east Carmel reported just 10 voters had shown up off a voter roll that contained about 600 registered voters. But poll workers also reported low attendance in central and western Carmel precincts as well.

In Home Place, township board candidate Meredith Carter was waiting outside a polling station to greet voters and make one last pitch before they cast their ballots.

Many other candidates spent the day driving to and from polling locations to make sure their signs were still standing.

Voting ends at 6 p.m. today and results should be available later this evening.
