The new Meijer in Whitestown is will its grand opening on May 16. To welcome the new store to the Zionsville and Whitestown communities, members of the Zionsville Community High School marching band are performing from 5 to 6:30 p.m., May 12 in the Meijer parking lot.

Marching band alumni are also invited to participate. The ZCHS cheerleaders will also be performing.

Tom Landrum, the band director for ZCHS, is asking that participating marchers arrive at 4:55 p.m., and wear a free t-shirt that is being provided by Meijer.

“Meijer is a store that traditionally likes to support their communities, so this is a great opportunity for us to start a good working relationship,” Landrum said in an e-mail to Current in Zionsville.

Any band students that have not been members of the marching band are also welcome to join in the performance.

Landrum said that students should bring their instrument.  Flip folders and music will be provided, although he encourages students to pick up the music while in school on Monday.

“This is not necessarily a required event, but we really need a strong representation of the band for us to sound solid,” Landrum said.
