The Hamilton County Project Lifesaver Summer Bash will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Hamilton County 4H Fairgrounds. This annual fundraiser for Project Lifesaver includes activities for the entire family, a StatFlight helicopter demonstration, vendors, music, Indy Kids Sale, and catering by Big Hoffa’s BBQ. Also featured is a custom Car and Bike Show with trophies awarded in several categories including People’s Choice. A Poker Run with prizes is included in the day’s activities as well. All proceeds from the events go to support Project Lifesaver of Hamilton County.
Project Lifesaver is a program designed to assist in locating individuals who are potentially at risk due to wandering. Clients of Project Lifesaver include those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, dementia, Autism, Down Syndrome along with those who are prone to wandering away from safety. Through funds raised from events like the Summer Bash, Project Lifesaver is able to provide clients at no cost with a wristband style radio transmitter that emits a silent signal that can be tracked quickly and efficiently. In nearly 3,000 cases nationwide, Project Lifesaver has been able to locate clients in an average time of less than 30 minutes with no serious injuries or deaths reported. Hamilton County currently has five (5) fire agencies along with the Sheriff’s Office trained in using Project Lifesaver technology.
