Why did you become a teacher? I have always loved school. I love the idea of learning and discovering new things. It also allows me to work with really incredible young people. Seeing those light bulb moments and teaching them something totally new is very rewarding.

What goals do you have for your students? I want them to develop a love of learning and to see that although we all have different strengths and weaknesses, we are all capable of success. It is okay for us to learn at a different pace or not know something, but it’s not okay to not try.

What do you encourage parents to do at home to help their children strengthen particular skills? The biggest things parents should do to help their children learn are to read with them, to offer them life experiences, and to communicate with them. Encourage them to ask questions and take time to listen.

What is your favorite movie? “Sound of Music”

Who is your favorite musician or band? Adele, Norah Jones and Carrie Underwood

What’s something your students might not know about you? I know almost all of the lyrics to the theme songs from all those ’70s shows such as “Gilligan’s Island,” “The Brady Bunch,” “Green Acres” and “The Beverly Hillbillies.”
