Hamilton County’s Meals on Wheels raises $33k

The Sept. 4 Dancing With Our Stars Meals on Wheels event, that was held at the Ritz Charles in Carmel, raised more than $33,000, according to a press release from the committee for Meals on Wheels Hamilton Co.

This black tie optional event was loosely modeled after the popular ABC television show, Dancing with the Stars. Guests enjoyed appetizers and drinks as they watched the dancing.

Celebrity dancers were asked to raise of minimum of $1,500 prior to the event. This year’s dancers included: Amy Delucia, Allisonville Nursery; Jessica Rodgers, CVS Pharmacy; Betsy Russell (retired), Krieg Devault; Julie Schnieders, St. Vincent Carmel Hospital; Alaina Shonkwiler, City of Noblesville; Todd Thurston, Hare Chevrolet; Jeff Warner, Katz, Sapper & Miller; and Gary Fammartino; St. Vincent Fishers Hospital.

Professionals were be paired with celebrity dancers to teach dance routines that were performed at the event. Each celebrity dancer received 10 one-hour training sessions. Professional dancers included: Ed Godby-Schwab, The Dancer Center; Rob Jenkins, Riolo Dance; Monica Lung; Riolo Dance; Diana Miller, The Dance Center; Xavier Medina, Independent; Scott Shook, Starlight Ballroom; Yulia Shook, Starlight Ballroom; Chris Williams, Riolo Dance.
