Carmel-based KAR Auction Services, Inc., a provider of used vehicle auction services, announced last week the the company’s team raised more than $130,000 for the Indiana Tour de Cure 2014, and was named the top corporate fundraiser in Indiana and in the nation. KAR Auction Services CEO Jim Hallett made the announcement.

Team KAR, which was comprised of 19 volunteers from the KAR group of companies, rode together at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on June 21 after raising more than $130,000 for the cause.

The team, led by Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and Real Estate Warren Byrd, surpassed their fundraising goal and beat last year’s amount of $54,000 to become the top team in Indiana, and the top single-site team in the nation as of August 2014. Team KAR’s contribution is in addition to CEO Jim Hallett’s individual fundraising total of more than $110,000, which earned him recognition as the top individual fundraiser in the nation.

“Team KAR’s incredible contribution is a testament to the generosity, compassion and determination exemplified daily by those within our organization,” Byrd said. “On behalf of our team, I would like to thank our colleagues, family and friends for their overwhelming generosity and support of this important cause.”

The Tour de Cure is the American Diabetes Association’s signature fundraising cycling event, and part of KAR Auction Services’ ongoing charitable outreach initiatives. In 2013, more than 65,000 cyclists participated in 89 Tour de Cure events nationwide and raised more than $25 million.
