Police arrest men involved in Arcadia home invasion, assaulting elderly WWII veteran

Earlier this morning, officers from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and the Arcadia Police Dept. arrested two individuals in connection with the home invasion robbery of Hershel “Bud” Moore of Arcadia that occurred on Oct. 10.

Acting on information received from the public, officers and detectives were able to locate some of the items stolen from the residence. HCSO Deputy Bryant Orem said items were located in a shop in Arcadia during the execution of a search warrant.

Sheriff detectives arrested Joseph Michael Lowe, 26, of Indianapolis, on Oct. 19 in Lawrence. Lowe faces preliminary charges on conspiracy to commit robbery, residential entry, burglary, theft and criminal mischief.  He is currently being held in the Hamilton County Jail on an $86,000 bond.

Also charged in the crime was Justin Wayne Lawson, 27, of Cicero. Lawson has preliminary charges of armed robbery, burglary, theft, residential entry, criminal confinement, strangulation, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, battery with injury, intimidation and criminal mischief.  Lawson also is being held at the Hamilton County Jail on a $141,000 bond.

On Oct. 10, Lawson and Lowe allegedly entered Moore’s residence in Arcadia wearing masks and began assaulting the elderly homeowner and then tied him up. The suspects took a large sum of money and ransacked the residence. Moore was able to free himself after the suspects left the residence and authorities were notified.

Orem said the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the public for information received during the course of this investigation.
