Fishers Chief of Police George Kehl is pleased to announce an arrest has been made in connection with on-going homicide investigation from Saturday night. Over the past three days officers have worked tirelessly to identify and locate the person responsible for Mr. Henry Kim’s death. Yesterday afternoon, while searching a wooded area, near 106th Street and Hawthorne Ridge Fishers Police Detectives came into contact with an individual that was previously being considered a “Person of Interest”. Detectives identified the individual as 17 year-old Maxwell Winkler and transported him to the Fishers Police Department. Late last night Detectives executed search warrants at two locations in Fishers and collected items believed to be related to this homicide. Just after 5am this morning, Maxwell Winkler was arrested and charged with one count of Murder. Due to his age and the nature of this crime he is automatically waived to adult court.
Chief Kehl would like to thank the community for their support and assistance. The community was instrumental in bringing this case to a quick resolution. Chief Kehl would also like to recognize his team of law enforcement professionals. Officers from every division offered their time, talents, and energy to ensure the residents were safe and the suspect was captured. There were also several agencies that assisted in this investigation: The Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office, The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, The Carmel Police Department, The Noblesville Police Department, The Indiana State Police, The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, The Indianapolis Safe Streets Task Force, and the Fishers Department of Fire and Emergency Services.
