ZCHS Spanish IV students from Mrs. (Lindsay) Alessandrini’s and Mrs. (Jennie) Galasso’s classes celebrated the Day of the Dead last week. This is a joyful celebration and tradition originating in central Mexico on Nov. 1 and 2. The Aztecs developed the ritual over 3,000 years ago. The altars are dedicated to a loss of a beloved ancestor who has passed. Instead of grieving they would celebrate their lives by creating altars that may contain foods that were their ancestors favorite meals, seeds, photographs, candles and much more.

ZCHS will hold the annual Veterans Day Program on Nov. 11 in the Performing Arts Center. The first convocation will begin at 12:35 p.m. and will be repeated for a second time beginning at 1:15 p.m. for the remainder of the student body and guests. The program will feature patriotic music and recognition of those who have served our country. Veterans and the community are invited to attend the programs. Guests should park in the front of the high school and enter through the main Performing Arts Center entrance.
