In a Nov. 12 release from Zionsville Chief of Police Robert Knox, Knox stated that Captain Doug Gauthier has announced his intentions to retire after 21 years of service to the Zionsville Police Dept. and the town of Zionsville.

“Captain Gauthier has been a very good public servant and since my tenure as Chief of Police. Doug has been a very key member of the administrative staff here at the police department,” Knox said. “Doug has always been one of the hardest working police officers I’ve had the privilege of working with during my career and he will be hard to replace. With that being said, I will be working on appointing his replacement along with Town Manager [Ed] Mitro and Police Commission President [Steve] Mundy.”

Historically this position has been appointed by the chief of police, however in this case Knox has asked Mitro and Mundy participate in the selection process.

“Captain Gauthier has been given an awesome opportunity and I support his decision and wish him and his family well,” Knox said.

Gauthier is a long-time Zionsville resident, who is an active member of the Zionsville Lions Club.
