Casting for Recovery, a Vermont-based non-profit organization offering support and education retreats for women with breast cancer, has added Dr. Patricia Rae Kennedy of Zionsville to its Board of Trustees. Kennedy is a physician at IU Health North and IU Health Saxony Hospital.

“We are so fortunate to have Dr. Kennedy leading our breast care program,” said Jon Goble, president and CEO of IU Health North Hospital. “She has been with us since we opened in 2005 and has truly created a world-class program. Her compassion for her patients is astounding, so it is no surprise that Casting for Recovery would invite her to join their board.”

Kennedy is a fellowship trained breast surgeon and the medical director of breast care at Indiana University Health North Hospital. Her career has been focused on providing state-of-the-art patient-centered care for women with breast diseases. She also serves as a surveyor for the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, traveling to breast centers across the country to ensure that they are meeting the highest standards of care.

Kennedy has been a volunteer medical facilitator with the Indiana Casting for Recovery program since 2006, and she believes in the healing power of the retreats. She enjoys both fly fishing and photography in her spare time.

Kate Wagenlander, principal of KCW Global Research, and retired oncologist Brenda Towell also joined the Casting for Recovery Board of Trustees.

“We’re thrilled to have these women join our board,” said Whitney Milhoan, executive director of Casting for Recovery. “Their knowledge, experience and passion for helping women with breast cancer will help guide the organization’s direction and strengthen our ability to fulfill our mission.”
