Fun, food and fundraising were among the top priorities Feb. 27 at the second annual Girls’ Night Out benefiting the Zionsville Educational Foundation. While the final amount is still being tallied, ZEF executive director Tracy Phillips said that the organization met its expectations in both fundraising and awareness.

“We hope our GNO guests tell their friends about our grants for education and the upcoming ZEF 20th Anniversary next school year,” she said.

The more than 150 women in attendance were asked to wear a piece of jewelry that has special meaning to them and share that story with the ZEF committee. Attendees voted Mary Beth Searles’ story as the Gem of the Night, and Searles received a necklace from Robert Goodman Jewelers.

The most popular attractions were The Heist and Take a Spin – both opportunities to receive either a grab bag or surprise envelope for $20.  Some were lucky enough to win gift cards as high as $50, while others were surprised to find jewelry stashed inside of the purses and clutches they won.

This was the fourth time ZEF has used auction technology QTego, utilizing patrons’ mobile phones throughout the evening to bid by cell phone, pay for The Heist and Take a Spin, vote for the Gem of the Night, and receive reminders by text throughout the evening.
