Bryan Traylor

Personal: Traylor moved to Zionsville after graduating from college. He is married and has three children. He works as a vice president at Centier Bank and his goals as a town councilor would include supporting business development, ensuring the council has a smooth transition through a possible reorganization with Perry Township and working closely with Zionsville Community Schools.

Background: Traylor serves on the Zionsville Board of Zoning Appeals and has been president of the Zionsville Chamber of Commerce. He’s also been involved with the Z’Sparkle Drag Race benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association.

Brett J. Ashton 

Personal: Ashton was born in Australia but has called Zionsville home for the last 12 years. He is the father of triplets. If elected, he hopes to focus on targeted economic development that will help fund infrastructure improvements.

Background: Ashton has not run for political office before. He has spent most of his professional career representing clients before legislative and regulatory bodies in Indiana and across the U.S.

Personal: A lifelong Zionsville resident, Spees is married and the father of two children. He is a dentist and hopes to see Zionsville move forward in a way that preserves the town’s charm if elected. His goals also include working closely with the school district and keeping the town fiscally sound.

Background: Spees has not run for elected office before. His father was an Eagle Township Trustee. He believes his 26 years in running a successful private practice have helped him develop skills that would be useful as a town councilor.

Personal: A Zionsville resident for 15 years, Schuler is married and has a daughter and a son. He has served on the town council for three years and hopes to continue attracting new businesses to Zionsville to help diversify the tax base if reelected.

Background: Schuler did not have any previous political experience before joining the town council. He is the chief financial officer of Wright Implement and a member of the Zionsville Lions Club. He has also volunteered for the Z’Sparkle Party Drag Race to End Alzheimer’s.

Personal: Boggs has lived in Zionsville for 13 years. He is married and has two daughters. If elected, his goals are making sure the town develops in a responsible manner that protects the ambiance of Zionsville.

Background: Boggs has not held a public office before. He has served in several leadership positions with the Indiana Jaycees, including Zionsville Chapter President, State Region 3 Director and state treasurer.

Personal: Hopper has lived in Zionsville for 14 years. If re-elected, she hopes to continue working to diversify the tax base and maintain the strong relationship with the school district.

Background: Hopper has served on the town council since 2012. She is a member of People of Zionsville for the Aesthetics of Zionsville and the Children’s Museum Guild.

Personal: Auersch has lived in Zionsville for 10 years. He is married and has a daughter. If elected, he hopes to preserve and support the Village and grow the commercial base in appropriate ways.

Background: Auersch has not run for public office before. He has run a law practice for 22 years and is an active volunteer at St. Alphonsus Liguori. He also serves on the Land Resource Advisory Council.

Joshua Garrett

Personal: Garrett has lived in Zionsville for eight years. He and his wife have been married for 10 years and have three children. His priorities if elected include smart business growth and preserving Zionsville’s unique qualities.

Background: Garrett has not run for elected office before, but he is a founder of MOBI, Zionsville’s largest private employer. He serves on the board of directors for the Jared Foundation, which works to fight childhood obesity and encourage children to make healthy choices.

Bret Brewer

Personal: Brewer has lived in Zionsville for 12 years. He and his wife have two children. A certified public accountant, he is the only person in Indiana to have all of the designations on valuing businesses.

Background: Brewer has not previously run for elected office. He has held several offices with the American Society of Appraisers and has been treasurer of Lincolnwood Neighborhood Association, chairperson of Timberwood Neighborhood Association and treasurer of the Eagle Elementary PTO.

Susana Suarez 

Personal: Suarez has lived in Zionsville for seven years. She is married and has two daughters. If reelected, she hopes to continue the council’s focus on economic growth.

Background: Suarez is the town council vice president, has held top posts in the National Republican Committee and worked in executive positions for both Bush administrations. She serves on the executive committee for the Indiana Higher Education Commission.

Personal: Papa has lived in Zionsville for 13 years. If reelected, he hopes to continue to diversify the tax base, work closely with the schools and protect the character of the town. He is chief of staff and chief legal counsel for the Indiana State Senate.

Background: Papa is a past town council president and vice president and has served on the Eagle Township Board and Eagle Township Parks Board. He is a founder of Youth Enhancement and Training Initiative, provides support for children in Indiana and runs an orphanage in Nepal.

Personal: Ulmer has been a Zionsville resident for 33 years. She is married, has four children/stepchildren and 10 grandchildren. She plans to bring more transparency to the budget process and update technology if elected.

Background: Ulmer has served on the Zionsville Town Council since 2012 and served as a Union Township Trustee for three years. She is a member of the Boone County Economic Development Commission and Zionsville Cultural District board. She has volunteered for the Boone County Guardian Ad Litem/Court Appointed Special Advocates program.

Personal: Lacy has lived in Zionsville since 2002, after she discovered that her favorite house was up for sale while visiting the Street Dance. Her goals if elected include maintaining the integrity of the town and its strong bond rating and improving internal efficiencies.

Background: Lacy has served as the town’s deputy clerk for more than 10 years, although she has not run for elected office before. She has worked as a branch manager for the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles. She is also a co-founder of the Z’Sparkle Party Drag Race to End Alzheimers.

Personal: Haak has lived in Zionsville since 1977. He and his wife have two boys. Haak works as director of investment operations for Elevate Ventures. He would like to see Zionsville continue to diversify its tax base if elected as mayor.

Background: Haak’s only political experience is serving on the town council. He has been involved with Cub Scouts, Zionsville Little League and the Zionsville Youth Soccer Association.
