Cortney Reiselman is a local business owner with a passion for dance. In April, she won the title of 2015 Fred Astaire National Latin Champion. The annual competition in Atlanta hosted over 10,000 entries.
Reiselman is a veteran of the dance championship world. She has been involved for more than 20 years, taking home the champion title once before when she lived in Columbus, Ohio. She took a break from dance to focus on the launch of her business, Silver Door Spa.
The Fred Astaire dance studio moved to Carmel in 2013, prompting Reiselman to once again think about dance. “I thought it was time to get back into it, and I fell right back into the groove.” She has competed in two dance tournaments since the beginning of the year.
Reiselman grew up in the spa business, and became inspired to open a spa of her own during her time as a professional dancer. She paid careful attention to the practices of the best spas from the areas where she traveled, and in 2013 opened Silver Door Spa in the Carmel City Center. “The time was right, and I knew it was a quaint location,” she explains.
Her focus is to provide her guests with an outstanding experience. “What stands out for us is the first-class guest service. From the moment you walk in, everyone knows your name,” she says. Her staff is trained to pamper guests with heated socks, name cards in each locker and to provide champagne service. She describes her boutique spa as a place where people can achieve results from services such as anti-aging treatments in a setting more welcoming than a traditional med spa.
“We love what we do, and our reviews show that,” says Reiselman, referencing guest reviews on popular sites such as Google and Yelp. She says Silver Door Spa may expand to a larger location or potentially open other locations in the future.
