June 12, the Zionsville Fire Department responded to a report of a residence fire at 215 Royal Oak Court, Zionsville. On arrival, crews observed flames coming from the attic space of the residence.
Crews made an aggressive interior attack and quickly extinguished the fire. The fire was confined to the attic space. However, the remainder of the residence suffered water damage both from the fire attack and the rain at the time. Initial investigation revealed the cause of the fire to be a lightning strike.
The Zionsville Fire Department was assisted by Whitestown, Carmel, and Pike Township fire departments.
