The Zionsville Cultural District’s Lincoln Park Concert Series is in full swing, with free concerts scheduled at 7 p.m. every Wednesday through June and July. Each week the stage in Lincoln Park features a different band, with genres ranging from jazz fusion to classic rock. Different food offerings are available each week as well.
Entering its 24th consecutive year, the Lincoln Park Concert Series keeps things fresh by bringing in new musicians every year and brings back old favorites as well, such as Lonnie Lester, who will be performing for Downtown Motown night on July 8.
While not every musician who will be performing for the series is from Zionsville, many of them are locals. Tim McLaughlin, a member of the Zionsville Cultural District and Zionsville resident, is tasked with finding bands for the concert series to promote young or unknown musicians.
People of all ages are encouraged to attend the concerts, which are designed for families, friends and couples to enjoy.
“I have seen the couple bring their own table, chairs, glass of wine and make it a great evening of music,” said Candace Ulmer, a board member of the Zionsville Cultural District and Zionsville town councilor.
With a summer concert series, there’s always a chance of rain. In case of inclement weather, organizers move the show to the Zionsville Lions Club rather than canceling or rescheduling it. For more information, visit www.zionsvilleculturaldistrict.org.
