When Old National Bank downsized, erasing the need for two Indianapolis commercial lending managers, Brian Carroll’s position was eliminated.

Carroll moved to Farmer’s Bank on 116th Street and Allisonville Road, where he became a commercial lender instead of the manager of the group.

Carroll has been with the bank since April, and noted that the biggest difference was the size between the two banks.

“Everybody at Farmer’s Bank knows each other, everybody wants everyone else to be successful,” Carroll said. “Old National Bank had thousands of employees. When I went to Farmer’s Bank, everybody gets to know everybody and that’s nice.”

As a commercial lender, Carroll makes loans to businesses such as term loans, lines of credit and commercial real estate mortgages. Carroll said that since Farmer’s Bank is smaller than Old National Bank, he and the commercial lending team can get through the approval process quicker and work faster.

Farmer’s Bank is headquartered in Frankfort, Ind. and currently, Carroll makes a trip there about three or four times a week. He’s learning the bank and its culture so he can better understand and work with the company.

“By July I hope to be spending most of my time at the location in Fishers,” Carroll said. “I really enjoy being able to help businesses achieve their financial dreams. If a business wants to grow, I enjoy helping them do that.”

Carroll’s love for banks transpired from his Indiana University accounting and finance major, as well as his Bellarmine MBA. He worked at a bank in Jeffersonville, Ind. when he was in college and has loved it ever since.

Carroll lives in Geist with his wife and one daughter. Outside of work, he spends time at St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church where he is a member and serves as president of the finance committee.
