Regional choirs of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir became more autonomous this year, calling for renaming the Fishers Regional Choir of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir to the Fishers Children’s Choir, according to Sean Kissane, marketing and communications coordinator for the ICC.

The FCC is still part of the ICC family and backed by the 30 years, but it is considered its own choir now.

“The Fishers Children’s Choir is a part of ICC and perform with other ICC choirs several times throughout the year, but the choir also appears at local community events in the Fishers area. On a weekly basis, they attend rehearsals in the Fishers area,” said Monika Spangler, FCC director.

This year is the 30th anniversary of the ICC, and Spangler said one of the big things she and the choir members are most excited for will be an event at Clowes Hall in Butler University on April 30 of next year.

“It will be an event like never before,” Spangler said.

The FCC has two age groups, the Prep Choir which is grades first through third, and the Regional Choir, which is grades fourth through seventh.

For families who may have children who can be apart of the FCC or the ICC, call 940-9640 or email [email protected]. Spangler and the other FCC director, Cindy Johnson, will set up a vocal assessment for the child.

In addition to performing with the ICC, the FCC will also perform with the other Indianapolis Regional Choirs twice during the season, Nov. 25 and Dec. 19.

“The children that participate in the FCC develop their love of singing, become wonderful young musicians, and often times develop strong friendships within the choir.  The level of musical excellence and the bonds that students develop are what make the FCC experience exceptional,” Spangler said.
