Featuring the Hot Sardines

Ring in 2016 at the Palladium! This December, the Center for the Performing Arts will host our first New Year’s Eve Extravaganza at the Palladium.  The party starts at 8pm with live entertainment throughout the Palladium, including local favorites The Bishops, Flatbed Twitch, and the chance to sing at the Palladium with karaoke provided by P3 Productions. The party includes cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a concert by The Hot Sardines, “one of the best jazz bands in New York today,” (Forbes Magazine) who will welcome the New Year at midnight.

Schedule of Events:

8pm. Kick-off the celebration with parties throughout the Palladium. Explore the building and find heavy hors d’oeuvres, champagne, bars and bands everywhere you turn.

10pm. The countdown begins when The Hot Sardines hit the Palladium stage with their unique vintage dancehall stylings. A guaranteed party!

Midnight – Ring in 2016! Enjoy party favors and excitement at the stroke of midnight led by the Hot Sardines.

12-1am – Enjoy gourmet desserts and coffee in the lobbies before heading home.

Tickets for the New Year’s Eve Extravaganza, start at $100 and include champagne, two drink vouchers, hors d’oeuvres, the Hot Sardines concert and all festivities.  The New Year’s Eve Extravaganza is on sale now at TheCenterPresents.org, the Palladium Box Office and by phone at 317.843.3800.

The Hot Sardines

Take a blustery brass lineup, layer it over a rhythm section led by a stride-piano virtuoso in the Fats Waller vein, and tie the whole thing together with a one-of-the-boys frontwoman with a voice from another era, and you have the Hot Sardines (We haven’t even told you about the tap dancer yet).

In a short time, the Hot Sardines have gone from their first gig – at a coffee shop on the last Q train stop in Queens – to selling out Joe’s Pub five times in as many months, headlining at Lincoln Center’s Midsummer Night Swing, and opening for the Bad Plus, Lulu Gainsbourg, and French gypsy-jazz artist Zaz. Through it all they’ve become regulars at the Shanghai Mermaid speakeasy and turned The Standard, where they play regularly, into their own “saloon in the sky” (The Wall Street Journal) – complete with tap dancing on the bar – honing a live persona that’s been called “unforgettably wild” and “consistently electrifying” (Popmatters). Even while giving voice to the history-defining jazz of the 1920’s, 30’s, and 40’s, the Hot Sardines’ vibrant performances bridge generations and captivate 21st century audiences. Vanity Fair applauds their “unique repertoire, and a sound and style that are distinctly their own,” and Forbes Magazine calls them “one of the best jazz bands in NYC today.”

The mission of the Center for the Performing Arts is to welcome, engage, inspire, and transform through compelling performing arts experiences in a world class environment.  For more information, visit TheCenterPresents.org or by phone at 317.843.3800
