Bill Helton, 68, Noblesville, died Dec. 2 at his home. He was born March 6, 1947 to Dorlene and Ruby (Hobbs) Helton in Benham, Ky.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army Airborne Division from 1971 to 1972 during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal. He also served two years in the Air National Guard. Bill worked for 34 years as a machine builder of automated feeder machines for Matt’s Welding Service, Fortville Feeders and Advance Technology, retiring in 2009. He had a love and passion for his cars, enjoyed building things and loved working with wood. Most of all, Bill was a loving family man.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey Helton; children, John (Carol) Cowan, Charles (Keiko) Cowan, and Tina (Tom) Clark; siblings, Frances (Bob) Pickel, Elmer (Amy) Helton, Junior (Eleanor) Helton, and Sue Rains (Alvin Trosper); and grandchildren, James Cowan, Dennis (Shari) Cowan, April Bryant, and Angela (Matthew) Faux.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his siblings, John Parks Helton, Lillie Mae Cottrell and Jackie Helton.
