The Caring Center of Boone County will host its second annual charity gala on Feb. 13. The Valentine’s Day-themed fundraiser will begin at 6 p.m. at the Indiana Golf Club, 6905 S 525 E in Lebanon.

The nonprofit organization was established in the early 1980s to provide food and clothing to residents of Boone County. Now The Caring Center offers a food pantry, clothes closet, educational programming, budgeting classes and more.

“Over the years it’s gotten bigger and bigger. Thousands of Boone County residents rely on them,” said Dawn Such, event coordinator and owner of Save the Date Event Planning. “It’s a not-for-profit community outreach that helps everyone get back on their feet after a difficult time.”

The gala will begin with a cocktail and appetizer hour during which guests can participate in a silent needs auction.

“What that means is people donate to buy a backpack kit full of school supplies or a Christmas kit, or to offset the cost,” Such said. “Basically, it’s an in-kind donation going to the bigger cause.”

After the silent auction ends, there will be a presentation about the Caring Center and its success stories. A three-course dinner is at 7 p.m. along with a live auction. At 8 p.m. local band, My Yellow Rickshaw, will take the stage for a night of dancing.

“There will be a photo booth, a caricature artist and some other fun things to do for the last couple of hours as we tabulate the donations,” Such said.

The cost to attend is $150 per person or $250 per couple for standard admission, which includes two drink tickets. VIP admission is $200 per person or $300 per couple and includes unlimited beer, wine and cocktails.
