For the sixth year, the Miss Fall Festival Outstanding Teen pageant will return Sept. 18 to give Boone County girls a chance to shine. The pageant is scheduled after the Zionsville Fall Festival so that Cassidy Sampson, Miss Fall Festival from last year, will be able to reign over the festival.

“The teen pageant is part of the Miss America Organization,” said  Louanne Giralte, executive director of Miss Fall Festival Outstanding Teen. “It is considered a local pageant, and a local pageant is one that you have to win first, and then you can compete in the state pageant,  which is Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen, and then that feeds into Miss America.”

The pageant is for teen girls age 13 to 17 who will compete in four areas: private interview, lifestyle and fitness, evening gown and onstage questions and talent.

“The last three title holders that we have had have placed in the top 10 at state, and that’s a really good thing to show, because it shows we have a great amount of talented girls in the community that work hard and look amazing up on stage as far as all their areas of competition,” Giralte said. “These are all scholarship-based, so a lot of the girls that try out for it is because it’s about getting a scholarship.”

The Zionsville Lions Club awards Miss Fall Festival Outstanding Teen with a $500 scholarship.

The pageant will take place at the Whitestown Municipal Complex, 6210 Veterans Dr., Whitestown.

“We are having the pageant after the festival, and this is the second year of doing it this way,” Giralte said. “(Miss Fall Festival Outstanding Teen from last year) can reign over her festival, (Sept. 9, 10 and 11) and then she will hand off her crown the following weekend.”
