Indy Eleven midfielder Brad Ring and some of his teammates will debut his reading program for students, the “Ring Reading Program” from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 7 in the program room of Carmel Clay Public Library. The goal is to assist kids in achieving their dreams through a healthy lifestyle. This fall, Ring will introduce the program to Cherry Tree, Prairie Trace, Forest Dale and Carmel Elementary schools.

“It’s a huge benefit to the library to have these outside projects, programs and partnerships that will benefit our community,” said Liz Hamilton, CCPL foundation director. “My hope is that we’ll have a huge crowd, that it will build excitement, that maybe children will hear his message about living a healthy lifestyle, and it will strike a chord in them and affect them for the rest of their life.”

The program aims to encourage healthy habits in the lives of children by providing incentives.

“He wants to help kids from a young age think about how to live a healthy lifestyle, whether that’s through healthy eating, getting a lot of exercise (or) literacy,” Hamilton said.

Ring will kick off the program by sharing his story of becoming a professional soccer player. The event is open to the community and will provide children with the chance to ask questions and receive Indy Eleven prizes, such as game tickets and more.

“He will read a book to them, and then talk a little bit about his life and a healthy lifestyle and how important it is to be able to chase your dreams,” Hamilton said. “To be able to achieve your dreams you really need to focus on a healthy life.”
