On Oct. 29, at Clowes Memorial Hall, the Indianapolis Opera Ball Committee will present “Live en Stage,” the annual dinner dance benefit for the organization.

This year’s event will be hosted by famed Metropolitan Opera star Angela Brown. Randall and Deborah Tobias are the honorary chairs. Patricia LaCrosse will be the 2016 Taurel Woman of the Arts award recipient.

The Opera Ball is a highlight of the Indianapolis social season. This year’s ball promises to be an exciting, elegant multi-faceted opportunity to have a great evening while supporting the 42-year-old cultural institution. As Co-Chair Jamie Gibbs stated in a press release, “We are encouraging our guests to arrive in black tie or festive costumes … It’s Halloween for adults, while we celebrate the continued presence of opera in Indianapolis.”

The evening will begin with a 6 p.m., VIP reception for patron guests in the main lobby of Clowes Memorial Hall with passed hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. General admission guests will arrive a half-hour later to appetizer stations and open bars. The Low Key Jazz Quintet will perform during cocktails and a sumptuous silent auction will be on full display in the west lobby. Specialty drink stations will be provided by Tito’s Vodka and Wilks & Wilson mixers, along with top-shelf open bars which include Sun King Brewery products.

At 7:30 p.m., the rear doors to Clowes Memorial Hall will open to the heralding voices of the Indianapolis Opera Ensemble and Ensemble baritone alum, Jacob Pence. Guests will be guided down the aisles to the stage by members of the Indianapolis Opera Chorus. Dinner will consist of four gourmet courses accompanied by wines donated by Monarch Beverages. At 9 p.m., table gaming will commence amongst the bars and silent auction tables in the west lobby provided by Elite Casinos. The Cool City Band will be performing on stage for dancing, and the bars will remain open until 11 p.m.

Since 1975, Indianapolis Opera has delivered the passion, excitement and art of opera throughout Indiana with compelling educational, cultural and community activities. The Indianapolis Opera Ensemble program reaches 30,000 children and adults statewide each year, with additional performances in the surrounding states.
