Indiana House internships – The Indiana House Republican Internship Program is accepting applications for the 2017 legislative session. Internships are open to college sophomores, juniors and seniors, graduate students and recent graduates of all majors. Conservatives meeting – The Hamilton County Grassroots Conservatives will hold their monthly meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Delaware Township Community Center, 9094 E. 131st. St., Fishers. Registration is from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Laura Campbell, chairperson of the Hamilton County Republican Party, will be the guest speaker.
Shredding event – A community shredding and electronics recycling day will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 22 at Creekside Middle School, 3525 W. 126th St. A $5 donation is requested per shredding box. Recycle small electronics and computers, along with unused or expired prescription drugs. A $10 fee for glass TV/computer monitors will be charged.
Miniatures exhibits open – The Museum of Miniature Houses has two new exhibits. Hoosiers Making Miniatures features the work of Indiana artists. College news – The Indiana Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese has selected Carmel student Cecelia Germann as one of the 2016 Outstanding Students of Spanish. Anna Kozak and Donnesha Robinson were selected as Fry Scholars at IU’s Kelley School of Business.
Wells Scholars named – Indiana University has selected 21 students for the 27th class of Herman B. Wells Scholars. Recipients receive four years of tuition, with the option to study abroad for one year. Three of the recipients are Carmel residents. They are Neil Shah, Tiffany Xie and Hendrik Glauninger.
Patient Advisory Council members needed – St. Vincent is seeking volunteers to serve on the Patient Family Advisory Council. Applicants should have had a medical experience with St. Vincent in the past. Meetings are expected to last about two hours land the group will meet quarterly. Battle of the Bands – The St. Louis de Montfort Fall Festival will hold its seventh annual Battle of the Bands from 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 24 at 11441 Hague Rd., Fishers. The competition is for musicians high school age or younger. Bands will perform 10-15 minutes of cover or original material. Koi show – The Northern Midwest ZNA Koi Club will host the 15th annual koi show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 17 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 18 at the gazebo at Carmel City Hall. A variety of koi fish will be on display along with vendors for water garden and pond supplies. This event is free and open to the public.
Democratic Women meeting – The Democratic Women of Hamilton County and the Hamilton County Democratic Club will host a meet-and-greet for the Democratic candidates from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Delaware Township Community Building, 9094 E. 131st St., Fishers.
Cinch Cycling at Rollfast – Pro cyclist Tom Danielson will attend the Rollfast Gran Fondo in Carmel Sept. 18. Danielson has started a new business called Cinch Cycling, which offers training camps, clinics and coaching. Danielson will bring the Cinch Cycling experience to Carmel.
