Shop while supporting cancer patients at Couture for a Cause

Community Health Network Foundation will host a one-day shopping event, Couture for a Cause, to benefit cancer patients. The event will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Nov. 9 at Day Furs, 1361 S. Range Line Road.

Ten percent of all sales will benefit Community’s Oncology Patient Assistance Fund, which provides $250 vouchers for cancer patients in financial need to buy food, medicine and gas to get them to and from treatment.

Participants can shop items from Day Furs, Windsor Jewelry and more.

“Also for sale at the event will be the official Giving Gig Bracelet and Giving Gig Scarf, both of which are $120,” said Bridget Cleveland, development and communications coordinator for CHNF. “One hundred percent of the proceeds from those items will benefit the (fund).”

The Giving Gig is held each year in February and also benefits the fund.

“Day Furs and Windsor Jewelry have gone above and beyond to hold Couture for a Cause. This is the second year they’ve held this event,” Cleveland said. “Our 2017 Giving Gig is already sold out, so attending Couture for a Cause is a great way (for participants) to still be available with the cause and treat themselves at the same time.”

Guests will be treated to complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.

“This year we’re adding something fun. We always have a signature drink at our Giving Gig event, so we’re allowing folks coming to Couture for a Cause to vote on a couple of different drink options that will be at the Giving Gig,” Cleveland said.

Couture for a Cause is free to attend and will operate as an open house.

“We welcome anyone wanting to join our effort,” Cleveland said.
