Models will show off local boutique clothing while attendees sip tea and enjoy snacks at the seventh annual Heart and Soul Clinic Tea and Fashion Show from 2 to 4 p.m. May 7 at IMMI, 18881 IMMI Way.
Bash Boutique, Union Street Flowers and Gifts, Unraveled and others will be the participating boutiques and shops with clothing modeled by local residents. A silent auction also will take place.
Executive Director Danny Carroll is new to the Heart and Soul Clinic, a free clinic for the uninsured and underinsured of Hamilton County. He is also new to the fundraiser.
“I’m really excited to be a part of it this year and see it grow and expand and be able to raise funds for what we’re doing at the clinic,” he said. “2016 was a year of explosive growth within the clinic. We more than doubled the amount of patients we saw and opened up a free dental clinic to provide emergency and acute care to dental patients who don’t have dental insurance. We established an immunizations clinic and offered immunizations to children up to age 18 for school who cannot receive those that are required (because of insurance).”
The Heart and Soul Clinic is open by appointment 6 to 8 p.m. each Wednesday, and from 9 a.m. to noon the second and fourth Saturday of the month with no appointment required. The dental clinic is open from 8 a.m. to noon the first Saturday of the month with no appointment required.
The goal for this year’s Tea and Fashion show is $20,000. Last year, the fundraiser raised $17,000. Tickets are $50, or $350 for a table of eight. The clinic is searching for sponsorships for this year’s event.
There are approximately 30,000 uninsured residents in Hamilton County.
“I think the reasoning behind why this (health care) is needed right now is there’s a lot of uncertainty in the world of healthcare,” Carroll said.
