The Shoppes of Whitestown, a $50 million retail complex project from RealtyLink, is expected to break ground in September. The development will be built on 33 acres east of I-65 and exit 130 that has been designated for retail since 2004. It will bring new jobs, shopping, restaurants and green spaces to Whitestown.

“This is just another example of Whitestown being the fastest growing area in the state of Indiana for the past six years,” said Dax Norton, Whitestown town manager. “The Shoppes at Whitestown will offer new shopping and dining options for our own residents, while opening up our community to all surrounding areas.”

The Shoppes will feature a mix of national retailers and small, locally owned businesses, which Norton said is vital to a “project of this magnitude.”

“These retailers bring stability and recognition to our community that shoppers have come to expect and enjoy,” Norton said. “Recognizable retailers and restaurants will encourage shoppers to visit our community and enjoy not just this complex, but all that Whitestown has to offer.”

The development also will have green space, including a pocket park.

“In Whitestown, we believe in community, walking and biking with friends and neighbors for recreation and health. That’s why at the town’s request, RealtyLink has included a pocket park in their plans that will be separate from all traffic,” Norton said. “This is to encourage our residents to take advantage of the new walking paths and bike racks that will be constructed in this area.”

The Shoppes at Whitestown will be built in two phases. Phase I will include two large buildings totaling 270,000 square feet of retail space with 19 tenants. Phase II will include the development of seven outparcels to attract restaurants and boutique shops to be built to the south of the retail center. Phase I is due to open in the fall of 2018.
