CCS administrator recommends rebuilding Carmel Elementary on current site, building new school building on Clay Center Road

Carmel Clay Schools Co-Interim Supt. Roger McMichael recommended that the district construct a new Carmel Elementary School on its current site and construct a new school on Clay Center Road to replace the current Orchard Park Elementary building. He made the recommendation at the May 21 school board meeting after several parents from schools asked the district not to close their schools.

The recommendation comes in light of projected declining enrollment at the elementary level. Orchard Park and Carmel elementary schools are two of the oldest campuses in Carmel and due next for millions of dollars in upgrades and repairs.
