Just after 8:30 p.m. Oct. 2, a man was struck and killed by a vehicle in Lawrence.

The man’s identity has not yet been released by the Lawrence Police Dept. or the Marion County Coroner’s Office.

LPD public information officer Gary Woodruff said the adult male pedestrian was crossing Pendleton Pike just east of the intersection at Post Road when he was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound.

Woodruff said the driver, who also has not been identified, indicated they did not see the pedestrian in time to stop the vehicle. Woodruff said there was no indication of the driver being impaired, but that blood was drawn for toxicology tests per state law and that the driver is not facing any preliminary charges.

An autopsy was scheduled for Oct. 3, but as of press time, further details had not been released about the victim.
