According to Sabeen Haider, who owns Theatrical Avenue with her husband, the store’s proximity to the Center for the Performing arts was one of the key factors in selecting Carmel to open their first physical location, expanding from an online store they operated for 14 years.

Haider said she was inspired to open Theatrical Avenue because Indiana lacked a a store with its selection of niche products.

“We’ve never had anything like this in Indiana. This store, it’s got different types of things for the theater, for artists, for models, for photoshoots,” Haider said.

She said Theatrical Avenue will be a helpful resource for those who work with beauty supplies and similar materials.

“There are so many students who want to purchase, but they don’t have something locally where they can actually purchase from, so that is one of the reasons (I opened the store),” Haider said.

She also said she would be willing to offer a special discount for student artists who buy supplies from Theatrical Avenue and make sure they have all the items they need.

“If someone’s a makeup artist and they want a discount, I’m definitely going to offer them (one),” Haider said. “Let me know and I will do the best I can to provide what they need for their photoshoots, and even if we don’t have (the material) at that point, we can always (order) it for them.”
