“For a while we’ve been talking about wanting to create a fall event that would be a fun event for families, much like the egg drop, but we want to take this event to the next level for us,” Gaylor said. “We want there to be a cause or something we care about in the community that benefits from the event that isn’t our church.”

The event will benefit Family Promise of Hamilton County, a nonprofit that helps homeless families find housing and take the next step in their life. Housing is provided for a week at a time by local congregations, including NSPIRE Church.

The church is asking community businesses to partner with it for the event by donating $200, which will go directly to Family Promise of Hamilton County. The donation allows the business to set up a trunk or a tent in a 10-fooft by 10-foot space in the church’s parking lot to inform event attendees about their business and hand out candy.

During the event, hayrides will take families to Wellbrooke of Westfield, where children can trick-or-treat through the senior-living facility.

“We are hoping businesses will care about the cause alongside us. We have homeless neighbors in our community,” Gaylor said. “To me, it’s a cause everybody would probably be sympathetic towards. The dollars we are asking businesses to give to, it’s a great opportunity to serve local families.”

Registration to attend the free event is required. For more, visit westfieldtrunkortreat.com. For a business interested in donating and participating, text “trunk” to 317-451-4111.
