IU Health now testing for COVID-19

0

IU Health now has the capability to test for the SARS-CoV-2 virus using its pathology laboratory. The SARS-CoV-2 virus causes COVID-19. Currently, the number of people who can be tested is limited, with priority given to high-risk, seriously ill patients and health care workers who may have been exposed to the virus. The hospital anticipates offering broader testing in the next week or so. Consistent with national and state guidelines, IU Health will use the test as a COVID-19 virus confirmation, not as a virus screening tool. Healthy patients with mild symptoms are still encouraged to self-quarantine for up to 14 days. COVID-19 testing must be ordered by a physician.
