The Indiana State Dept. of Health today announced 963 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19, the most cases reported in a single day since the beginning of the pandemic.

Previously, the most positive cases reported in a day were 710 on April 24. Most of the cases reported today, a cumulation of positive tests that occurred over the last week, came from Cass County. A Tyson Foods plant in the county recently reported an outbreak of COVID-19 cases, contributing to the total.

The additional cases bring to 15,961 the total number of Indiana residents known to have the virus following corrections to yesterday’s total.

A total of 844 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died of COVID-19 – an additional 31 deaths were reported since yesterday. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by ISDH and occurred over multiple days. No additional presumptive positive cases were reported since yesterday.

To date, 84,476 tests have been reported to the ISDH, up from 81,708 on Sunday.
