Because of a statewide rise in COVID-19 cases, the Westfield Lions Club has canceled its Oct. 31 trunk-or-treat event at Quaker Park.
“After seeing COVID-19 cases continue to rise in record-breaking fashion, we felt it was best not to risk the health of our members and the health of the attendees,” club president Anna Skinner said. “Although we’re really bummed about canceling, the planning for the event was seamless and we plan to do something similar in the future.”
Earlier this year, the club canceled its annual fish fry and poker tournament due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
