The Noblesville Police Department responded to a crash involving two vehicles and two drivers at the 19700 block of Ind. 37 at 8:03 a.m. Oct. 23. One driver had life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead in the hospital.

The deceased driver was identified as Nicole R. Townley, 44, of Noblesville. Townley was transported by ambulance to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis with life-threatening injuries. She was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The other driver was identified as Kristine S. Tishner, 39, of Noblesville. Tishner was transported by air ambulance to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Through evidence and witness statements, police said a 2016 Kia Soul driven by Townley was traveling northbound on Ind. 37 and crossed into the southbound lane of Ind. 37, where the road transitions from a four-lane divided highway to a two-lane divided highway. The Kia collided head-on with a 2006 Dodge Charger – driven by Tishner — traveling on Ind. 37.

Southbound traffic on Ind. 37 was diverted onto Promise Road and northbound SR 37 traffic onto 191st Street. Those road closures/lane restrictions were in place until 11:30 a.m. when the scene was released.

The Crash Reconstruction Unit of the NPD investigated the crash, which is still under investigation.
