Cell phone collection for domestic violence victims

Prevail, Inc., a Hamilton County-based not-for-profit organization advocating for victims of crime and abuse, is partnering with local libraries to collect unused or retired cell phones. The phones will be repurposed or recycled to assist victims of domestic violence.

Donations will be accepted through March 31, 2011 at the Fishers (5 Municipal Drive, Fishers) and Noblesville (1 Library Plaza, Noblesville) branches of the Hamilton East Public Library.  Donations are accepted year-round at the Carmel Public Library, located at 55 Fourth Avenue Southeast, Carmel.

“As people replace or upgrade their phones, they often don’t know what to do with their old ones,” said Loretta Moore, executive director of Prevail, Inc.  “By donating them to Prevail, you help victims of crime and abuse and keep these electronic devices out of the landfill.”

In partnership with Shelter Alliance, Prevail encourages zero-landfill cell phone recycling. For each cell phone donated, Prevail receives funding to support its mission. All cell phone donations are welcome.
