An 11-year-old boy is credited to discovering a fire and alerting his family so all members could safely exit the house on Nov. 27. The residential fire occurred at 10:11 p.m. at 199 Tippecanoe Dr., Noblesville. Firefighters made and interior attack on the fire and had the incident under control at 10:37 p.m.

The occupant, Mellissa Bannon, said her son, Luke, 11, discovered the fire.  Luke told authorities that he was asleep in bed when he was awaken by a popping and cracking sound.

“Luke stated he got out of bed and noticed smoke throughout the home,” said NFD Spokesman Division Chief Rick Russell. “Luke further stated that he went into his mother’s bedroom and woke her up from her sleep and told her that the house was full of smoke.”

Bannon noticed that the home was full of smoke so she woke the other three children and quickly exited. Russell said none of the home’s occupants were injured in the fire.

Authorities have determined that the fire has originated in the area of the clothes dryer.  The fire has caused approximately $50,000 in damages to the structure and its contents.
