Leif Garrett, 53, the 1970s teen-idol actor and vocalist/guitarist, is rehearsing his alternative/hard-rock band at Kingston’s Music Showcase in Carmel this week. In addition to his albums, his big- and small-screen credits include “Walking Tall,” “Bob, Carol, Ted & Alice,” “The Waltons,” “Family,” “The Outsiders,” “Thunder Alley” and “Shaker Run.” One of VH1’s highest-rated episodes of “Behind the Music” featured Garrett. He continues to write and record music. One of Garrett’s many song placement credits includes David Spade’s 2003 hit comedy, “Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star,” in which Garrett portrayed himself, and he wrote, produced and performed the end-title track, according to his website. As recently as 2013, he appeared on Tantric’s album, “37 Channels.”
He will perform at a benefit concert July 25 at The Vogue in Broad Ripple. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show is at 9 p.m. For more, visit TheVogue.com.
