At approximately 8:20 a.m. Sept. 15, agents with the FBI raided the home of American Senior Communities CEO James Burkhart, along with two other homes in Carmel.
FBI special agent Wendy Osborne confirmed the raid but declined to release any additional information.
“The Indianapolis office of the FBI has been conducting investigative activity in the Carmel, Indiana, area today,” she said. “The nature of the activity cannot be disclosed at this time.”
Public information officer Lt. Joe Bickel with the Carmel Police Dept. said he really doesn’t “know much” about the raid except that the FBI has confirmed to him that investigators are at “two or three locations in our city.”
Bickel said the Carmel Police Dept. is assisting the FBI investigators by providing scene security.
American Senior Communities operates 94 locations according to its website, including Zionsville Meadows.
