The Whitestown Brew Fest is returning from 2 to 6 p.m. Sept. 17 bigger than its debut in 2015.

Organizers have increased the number of participating breweries to 33, and the event has been selected as the official brew fest of Indiana’s bicentennial celebration.

“Not only are there more breweries, but there are a lot of new breweries, too,” said Justin Knepp, founder of Indiana on Tap. “The home brewing competition, which was a huge success last year, is twice the size this year with the competitors. More competitors mean a lot more homebrews for people to try.”

The event has also increased its footprint and will use more space at the Whitestown Municipal Complex.

“I think what the festival is continuing to prove now with the second year is Whitestown is becoming a craft beer community,” Whitestown Parks Director Nathan Messer said. “For five straight years, we have been the fastest growing community in Indiana, so we are getting a lot of millennials, and they like more of the craft beer instead of just domestics.”

Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door, and VIP tickets are $55 in advance and $60 at the door. VIP tickets allow for entry an hour earlier with a selection of limited beers.

“Last year was a huge success, and this year, every aspect of it is a bit bigger,” Knepp said. “We expect it to be a bigger demand, especially because of the bicentennial celebration as well.”
