Obituary: Gary L. Symmes

Gary L. Symmes, 68, Noblesville, died Sept. 16 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. He was born Oct. 11, 1947 to Earl and Mary (Blake) Myers in Indianapolis.

Gary was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis and proudly served his county in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War. For 18 years, he worked for Marsh Supermarkets and worked for seven years at a local machine shop. Gary was a member of White River Christian Church, where he volunteered at the food pantry. He enjoyed working in his yard and was an excellent handyman who could fix and repair most anything. Most of all, Gary loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed playing with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Becky J. (Armstrong) Symmes. They would have celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary in January. Also surviving are daughters Andrea (Kenny) Humphress and Melissa (Steve) Eubanks; son Chuck Siler; grandchildren Brianna Humphress and Alex and Tanner Eubanks; brother Wayne Myers; stepbrother Jim Symmes; brother-in-law Bob (Mary Jane) Armstrong; sister-in-law Roberta (John) Tague; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his stepfather, Jim Symmes.
