Carmel High School group’s Street Store to provide shopping experience for homeless

0

A group of Carmel High School students are organizing a Street Store from noon to 3 p.m. March 18 at Metropolitan Baptist Center in Indianapolis.

The Street Store is designed to provide a genuine shopping experience for the poor and homeless. The concept was created in 2014 by Max Pazak and Kayli Levitan in South Africa, where it inspired generosity and brought greater understanding of the homeless population in the area.

Attendees at the Street Store may browse clothing with the help of volunteers and choose items they like. Items are free, and community members are encouraged to contribute donations throughout the event at 952 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Early drop-off may be arranged by contacting [email protected].

The event is organized by Design for CHS, a student organization that strives to create innovations and services that tackle challenging problems in the community and the world. Students are inspired to use their ingenuity and creativity to isolate problems and determine an effective way to counteract them.
