Carmel police said they responded to the 14300 block of Riverrock Court at approximately 8 a.m. July 27 because of a report of someone threatening suicide.
While officers were en route to the Spring Creek neighborhood, they learned that gunshots had been fired and that the person who fired them left the scene. First responders found two victims with gunshot wounds. One was pronounced dead, and the other was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police located the suspect nearby. The suspect died after additional gunshots were fired, although police did not specify if the suspect was shot by police. One officer fired a weapon during the altercation.
Police said the suspect shot the initial two gunshot victims.
The Carmel Police Dept. has not released the identities of those involved in the shootings. Anyone with information is asked to contact CPD at 317-571-2580.
