Fifth District U.S. Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-Ind.) is accepting applications from local students who seek her nomination to attend a U.S. military academy for the class of 2026. Applications are due by Oct. 15, 2021.

To attend a military academy, a student must be nominated by a member of either U.S. Senate or the U.S. House of Representatives.

“It is a privilege to nominate extraordinary students in Indiana’s fifth congressional district to our world class military service academies. I’m eager to see many of our district’s best and brightest step forward and be considered for these prestigious positions,” Spartz stated in a press release.

The military academies are the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.; the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.; the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.; and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.

For consideration to be nominated by Spartz, candidates must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of the Fifth District and be between the ages of 17 and 23 years old. They also must be unmarried, without children and without any obligations to support children or other dependents.
