Golden K Kiwanis Club announces annual food drive

The Carmel Golden K Kiwanis Club will hold its annual food drive from March 19 through April 2. This year, the club will focus on food for kids, as that category is typically overlooked in normal food drives.

Recommended items: baby food, peanut butter, jelly juice boxes, cup of soup, spaghetti, macaroni, Velveeta cheese, crackers, cheese crackers w/ peanut butter, mac and cheese, and meat sauce. Diapers are also needed — any cash received will be used to purchase them.

The goal of this Food For Kids drive is to obtain at least 1,000 pounds of non-perishable kid’s food. They also seek monetary donations to purchase special items in shortest supply. The Kiwanis Club will pick up the food on a timely basis from its many cooperating corporate partners, schools and housing developments, and deliver it to Good Samaritan.

Initially, they will have collection sites in the three communities (Carmel/Westfield/Noblesville) that include schools, banks, businesses, government offices, housing areas, libraries, women’s club, etc. They are seeking and welcome additional partner sites to assist in the collection effort.

Look for the Red Barrels marked “Good Samaritan Network” and “Food for Kids” on the side. Donation checks are welcome – please make them out to Good Samaritan Network, and send them to Don Fields, 121 1st Ave., NW, Carmel, IN 46032.
