As they listened to the countdown of the top 100 Best Places to Work in Indiana, employees of DK Pierce & Associates began to wonder if their company was left off the list as the top 10 neared.
They needen’t have worried.
“I never thought we’d be in the top 10, let alone the top 5,” President and CEO Denise Pierce said. “For first-year acknowledgement in Best Places to Work, ending up No. 5 was just quite a celebration.”
The top companies in the state were announced during the Indiana Chamber’s annual awards banquet and were determined through employer reports on employee benefits, perks and resources as well as comprehensive employee surveys.
“I shouldn’t be surprised,” Pierce said. “I think we have a very unique culture. Everybody here is a part of shaping what it looks like here, what our work environment is. We’re excited to grow because the environment of health care keeps changing. It’s our opportunity to try to stay ahead of it.“
The company will be adding to its 21 employees soon but has hit capacity in its current office space, Pierce said. A new building in Creekside Corporate Park is expected to be complete by early September. After the move, Pierce will begin the process of doubling her staff, which coincides with the company’s busiest time of the year.
DK Pierce & Associates works directly with pharmaceutical and biotechnological companies to help them strategically work through FDA approval and monitor how patients can get access to medications through third-party health insurance companies. The firm primarily focuses on medications to help patients with cancer and rare diseases.
“I don’t ever like us to lose sight of why we do what we do, and it’s to make sure that patients ultimately get access to some very important therapeutics,” Pierce said.
